Fishing Report – Jan. 30, 2020

The weather this weekend is expected to range from the mid 30’s to the mid 40’s with potential snow showers Saturday morning.

The story remains for the lower half of the lower peninsula, there are no consistent reports of safe ice, those looking to still go out must do so with extreme caution. Ice Picks by Frabill, Striker Ice Floating Hardwater Bibs, and HT Sure Grip Safety Cleats by Hi-Tech Fishing can only aid in your safety while on the ice.

As anglers head north there are reports of safe ice on Burt Lake and Houghton Lake (in some areas).

Anglers targeting bluegill and perch had success finding fish in weed beds and along vegetation edges. A consistent amount has been caught on Fiska Handpainted Wolfram Tungsten Ice Jigs and “DOUG” Tungsten Ice Jigs by 13 Fishing that were spiked with smaller minnows or wax worms.

Pike are being caught on Blue Ice Pike Tip-Up by Clam in 10 to 14 feet.

Walleye are being caught on Jigging Rap Vertical Jigs by Rapala and dead sticking minnows in 20 foot or less.
