Fishing Report – Jan. 23, 2020

Temperatures are expected to be in the mid 30’s heading into the weekend with chances of Rain/Snow showers.

Southwest Michigan has got its first taste of ice on some small inland ponds and lakes, however in most cases the ice was not safe enough for fishing and extreme caution must be used when heading out. Floating Ice Picks by Clam Outdoors can only aid in the safety while out on the ice.

Anglers that were able to get out on safe ice had a great week of fishing.
Those targeting pike did so with live bait rigged on a Blue Ice Tip-Up by Clam.

Bluegill and perch were being caught on lures like the Jigging Rap by Rapala and the “DOUG” Tungsten Ice Jig by 13 Fishing both spiked with wax worms. Anglers were also having luck catching perch on minnows.

Walleye were being caught on minnows in some cases 25 to 30 feet, anglers were dead sticking with a Microtec Walleye Ice Combo by 13Fishing.

Steelhead anglers fishing the open river had success drifting beads and spawn bags.
