Fishing Report – August 1, 2019

Anglers should expect summer weather this weekend with temperatures in the mid 80’s with low wind speeds.
Bass anglers are still finding fish in their summer patterns. Fish are being caught in deeper water on baits like the 4” Salt Series Tubes by Venom Lures. Try fishing shallow cover that provides a slight temperature change, with the Bitsy Flip by Strike King.
With water levels receding in the rivers, anglers are having great success finding holes along the bank to catch fish.  Try throwing a wacky rigged 5” Senko by Gary Yamamoto, or use smaller sized crankbaits like the BX Brat Squarebill by Rapala.
Fly fisherman are having success in places like the Kalamazoo river, catching a number of smallmouth bass as well as some carp.
Smallmouth bass have moved to deeper water as well, and are being caught in 12 to 15 ft of water. Anglers are dragging Finesse TRD Ned Rigs by Z-Man, or try a dropshot rigged with a 4.8” Flick Shake Worm by Jackall.
Perch fishermen are having some success, although scattered. Most of the fish are being caught in around 30 ft of water. Bluegills are still being caught on the Bo’s Bluegill Buster.
Anglers catching salmon and trout are fishing 40 to 100 ft down in 100 to 150 ft of water. Salmon were caught on a variety of meat rigs; for trout try using yellow Spin-N-Glos by Yakima.
